The new class of freshmen begin their fall semester at SDSU-IV.

University welcomes class

San Diego State University-Imperial Valley campus welcomed 46 freshmen Wednesday.

Most of the students come from county high schools, said Norma Aguilar, a recruiter for SDSU-IV.

The new students and their parents spent two days in orientation events.

HOLTVILLE

Chamber hosts teachers’ lunch


The Holtville Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual teachers’ luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Barbara Worth Golf Resort.

Lunch and goodie bags will be provided free to all Holtville area teachers.

Guests are welcome and should reserve a spot by calling the chamber.

Lunch for nonteachers is $20.

IMPERIAL COUNTY

Libraries are back in service


The Imperial County free libraries are now back in service after a week off.

Calipatria, Heber, Holtville, Niland, Salton City, Seeley and Winterhaven county free libraries were closed from Aug. 13 through Friday for inventory and maintenance purposes.

Each will resume its regular hours of service.
