For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed party and event planning. I had done it on the side for friends and family but it wasn’t until organizing and planning my own wedding this past February that I realized it was my true passion. I coupled event planning with creating the custom accessories that I was already being asked to make, and decided to start my own business; it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Describe what your business does.
We help plan and organize all types of events, from weddings and quinceañeras to children’s birthday parties and company mixers. We help take on the chaos of organizing and let everyone actually enjoy their parties. We work with fantastic vendors to make every event not only elegant but impressive. We also create custom accessories and candy buffets for any occasion. “The Glass Slipper Collection” is our custom embellished shoe line that boasts over 5,000 rhinestone crystals covering the pair from toe to heel. We pride ourselves on being affordable and we can work with any budget.
What are memories from your career that stick out with you the most?
The most memorable moments are the ones with our clients. Seeing how excited they get when their vision becomes a reality. Getting to know them and their families and sharing in their special moment is always unforgettable. Corporate events are always fun as well; you never know how fun and crazy people can be when they let their hair down.
What do you most like and least like about your work?
With event planning comes long hours of organization and preparation but the end result is always worth it. To be able to see clients truly enjoy their event with no worries and to know that we had a role in making that event successful and most importantly, memorable, is the absolute best!
What makes your business unique?
The Cinderella Affect is all about creating an elegant event that seems to have just a touch of magic. We work hard to give our clients exactly what they need and are envisioning for their event. We have great relationships with reputable and talented vendors who give us some of the best prices and we in turn pass those on to the client. In many cases, our clients can actually save by utilizing our services. We are also the only official representatives for Smile Photobooth of Mexicali. This has become a popular attraction at parties and we can book these for any event in the Imperial Valley!
What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?
You need to make sure that you truly have the passion for it. Starting your own business isn’t always easy, and can be scary at times. But if what you do truly makes you happy, that can help you persevere through just about anything.
How do you give back to the local community?
We are a member of the El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. I am helping the Air Show Gala committee with their event in February. More specifically I am helping coordinate the first Air Show Gala Gown Showcase, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Imperial Valley Mall in front of Dillards. We are also a founding member of the Imperial Valley Independent Business Alliance which focuses on driving more commerce to local independent businesses. We are committed, along with our co-founding members, to seeing that organization reach its maximum potential. In the near future, we are looking to work with other local charities and nonprofits. Personally, I volunteer with the Family 4-H Lamb group. I have been volunteering as the co-lamb leader and involved with that youth program for almost 10 years.
