Tell us how you ended up in this line of work.

In high school, I was unclear as to what career I wanted to pursue. My family always encouraged me to pursue something in the health care field. My initial choice was to become an optometrist but due to the requirements and time frame required, I chose to be a pharmacist and I’ve enjoyed it every day since 2005.

Describe what your business does.

We dispense prescribed medications, recommend over-the-counter medications, educate patients on common diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. We provide counseling for every new medication we fill:

How does the medication work; How to take the medicine. What side effects to expect and not to expect; Check for drugdrug interaction against other medications the patient is taking.

What are memories from your career that stick out with you the most?

In college, we had exams every week for two years in a row. Also, socializing with my friends, going to restaurants, movies, and mini-tours in Boston.

What do you most like and least like about your work?

What I like most about my work is helping and educating patients about their treatment or what medications they are taking. What I like the least about my work is insurance problems when a medication is not covered.

What makes your business unique?

We provide personal care to every patient who walks into our pharmacy.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?

Having running capital once the business is open and running.

How do you give back to the local community?

I have not given back to our community yet. Once the pharmacy grows, I would like to provide internship hours to the pharmacy technicians who are completing the pharmacy technician program in the Valley. Also, I would like to provide inservices (educate patients on diabetes and other diseases that affect us every day) to day care centers and long-term care centers.
