Ann Batko has been named senior vice president for marketing and communications at CompTIA, an information technology industry association.
Batko is responsible for the 2,000-plus member organization's global marketing strategy as well as its marketing and corporate communications functions, including advertising, branding, social media and corporate communications.
She comes to CompTIA, from CDW, where she was senior director of communications and brand management for CDW. She was responsible for corporate brand planning, advertising, events, public relations, editorial content and internal communications.
Before that, Batko was senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications at Rand McNally & Co., where she also was executive editor and creative director.
Batko spent the first 15 years of her career in the advertising industry, working at Los Angeles and Chicago agencies on consumer packaged goods and retail accounts, including Procter & Gamble and Kraft Foods. Her most recent agency role was as senior vice president and general manager of the branding practice at FCB Chicago.
Batko also is the author of "When Bad Grammar Happens to Good People: How to Avoid Common Errors in English."
She has a B.A. in liberal arts from St. Mary's College of California.
