The Calexico High girls’ softball team is off to a good start this year, having won their first two games in a double-header against Monte Vista High of Spring Valley this past Saturday.
Freshman pitcher and shortstop Kasey Cazares, 14, had strong performances in both games.
Explain what you enjoy most about your sport.
I enjoy the aggressiveness and competitiveness of it all.
What is one of your more memorable moments in your sport?
When my travel team, the Imperial Valley Venom, won the Border Madness tournament. I struck out 44 of 54 batters.
Tell us about someone who inspires you and why.
My dad, J.C., because without him I wouldn’t be the player I am today.
What comes next for your career?
I eventually want to get a scholarship and go to college.
