HEBER — The Bengays men’s soccer team won its third consecutive Heber Adult Soccer League title here in mid-December.

The team has won the title in all three years of the league’s existence. The Bengays beat Heber Real Madrid, 3-2, in overtime with goals by Miguel Felix, Angel Diaz and Sergio German.

The game ended tied 2-2 in regulation and the Bengays won it with German’s goal. The game ended shortly after the lights, which are on an automatic timer, shut off.

“It’s not a good way to win but we were always ahead on the score and we were the best team that night,” Bengays head coach Luis Lopez said.

In the semifinal, Bengays beat Deportive Animal, 4-2. Bengays had finished in second place in the regular season.

“The team’s success can be attributed to its continuity. We’ve had the same players for two seasons and the few that have joined us only made us stronger,” Lopez said.
