CALEXICO — The city of Calexico will consider hiring a new finance director during tonight’s regular City Council meeting.
The city’s longtime finance director Judy Hashem retired in May, and a proposed contract for John T. Quinn is for $108,000.
City to rebid out public works truck
Calexico is going to consider rejecting all bids for the lease purchase of a truck-mounted combination jet/vacuum machine used to remove debris and clean sewer lines and storm drains and readvertise for the purchase.
Two companies submitted bids and a debate over the wording of the request for proposal was discussed at the last council meeting.
Plumbers Depot, Inc had bid $389,700 while Haaker Equipment had bid $309,930 for the truck-mounted machine.
“After carefully reviewing the bids received from both companies, we have found that there was some confusion in the request for proposal,” according to the agenda item’s backup information. “Therefore Public Works staff would request all bids received … and authorize staff to make minor changes to the request for proposal for a new advertisement for new bids.”
