The Imperial Irrigation District’s Board of Directors will meet in closed session at 1 p.m. today to discuss the status of its general counsel.
The status of the IID’s general counsel, Jeff Garber, has been in question ever since the current Board of Directors was sworn in seven weeks ago, and Garber was replaced at his usual place on the dais by Assistant Counsel Vance Taylor. Officials have refused to comment whether Garber is still working in the capacity of general counsel, saying only that he is still employed as such.
The meeting is listed on the agenda as a “public employee resignation/release.”
“I think it will be an opportunity for the board and its employment attorney to confer about the matter of the general counsel,” said General Manager Kevin Kelley.
Director and board President Matt Dessert was tight-lipped when asked for clarification.
“It’s agendized the way it’s agendized,” he said. “If we have anything (to say) we will report it out.”
Garber declined to comment.
