With a turnout of 150 energetic youths, the Imperial Valley Baseball Network’s annual baseball camp was deemed a success.
“This was the most energetic group. It was well-balanced and a good mix of kids from all over the Valley playing with each other, and they did an outstanding job executing the fundamentals we were asking them to do,” IVBN president Ruben Niebla said.
The camp was held at Southwest High in El Centro on Saturday and featured every high school baseball coach and former and current professional and collegiate players. The camp was open to youths ages 5 to 17.
“Everyone seemed to be captivated and enthusiastic about being there,” Niebla said. “When you have that combination with that the coaches bring, it’s gonna make for a good camp,” he said.
Fund raised will go toward scholarships the network hands out to qualifying baseball players hoping to continue their education in college.
