The Central Union High boys’ basketball team overcame Calipatria High, 62-52, in the final game of the 2012-2013 season on Thursday in El Centro.
Jakob Salgado led the way for the Spartans with 25 points. Chris Lewenthal scored 20.
Central finished the year with a record of 18-7 and Calipatria finished 13-10.

CALEXICO — The Calexico High girls’ basketball team one-sidedly beat Palo Verde Valley High of Blythe, 60-11, here Thursday.
Martha Escobar was the Bulldogs’ top scorer, with 14 points. Andrea Gutierrez had 12 points and Nancy Clark had 10.
Calexico finished the year with a record of 14-7, 3-3 IVL.
GIRLS’ SOCCER: Vikings shut out Wildcats, 1-0
BRAWLEY — The Holtville High girls’ soccer team shut out Brawley Union High, 1-0, in the final game of the 2012-2013 season.
Xochitl Garnica scored the game’s only goal.
The Vikings end the year with a record 12-11-1.

The Central Union High junior varsity boys’ basketball team crushed Calipatria High, 63-37, on Thursday in El Centro.
Christian Marquez totaled 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Spartans, while Sami Carreon and Saad Awan each scored 10 points, respectively.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: Bulldogs handle ‘Jackets, 29-13
CALEXICO — The Calexico High junior varsity girls’ basketball team beat Palo Verde Valley High of Blythe, 29-13, here Thursday.
For the Bulldogs, Alena Moreno led with eight points, followed by Daisy Acosta with seven. Liz Vizcarra scored four.
