CALEXICO — Calexico Unified School District teachers and the district have not been able to come to an agreement on how to cut more than $1.4 million from the teachers’ share of the budget.

After meeting for hours Monday for the fourth time, the district declared an impasse and now the issue will be handled by a mediator from the state.
