IMPERIAL COUNTY - U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three young Americans and other suspects in separate incidents that occurred this month, a press statement reported.
On Sunday two girls, ages 15 and 17, and a 19-year-old woman were turned over to the Calexico Police Department and arrested in connection with the alleged attempted robbery of a business, the statement read.
The unidentified store owner flagged down a Border Patrol agent claiming two females with knives tried robbing her business and that another female appeared to be armed with a gun.
The three suspects were eventually caught and found to be carrying a knife. All of the suspects were from the U.S. but the press statement failed to specify whether any of them are from the Imperial Valley, or what connection they have to one another.
All the statement reported was that the three females were turned over to the custody of the Calexico Police Department.
Arrests include man wanted by Mexico, Interpol
Imperial County - On Jan. 7 Border Patrol agents at the checkpoint near Ocotillo found a 40-year-old Mexican national with revoked immigration documents and later learned he was wanted by Mexican authorities and the International Police, commonly known as Interpol, for banking and financial fraud.
Separately, Border Patrol agents on Jan. 13 arrested a 26-year-old undocumented immigrant who was revealed to have been wanted by the El Centro Police Department for an alleged connection to an ongoing rape investigation.
The man, who federal authorities did not identify in their statement, was eventually booked at the county jail on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a minor under the age of 14. A call to the Police Department for more information about the arrest was not immediately returned Wednesday.
Alleged gang member arrested at port
Calexico - On Jan. 14, agents at the Calexico east Port of Entry arrested a 28-year-old Mexican national who was determined to be a gang member and wanted by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office on a failure to appear warrant.
