EL CENTRO - An Imperial Avenue eatery was burglarized Sunday when someone broke in through the roof, a police log entry reported.
No one was arrested early Sunday after police received a 5:42 a.m. call of the break-in at Jalisco’s Bar and Grill.
The log entry at the El Centro Police Department reads that an employee arrived to work and found the cash register had been forced open and $300 was missing.
An automated teller machine was also broken into, according to the log entry. The burglary occurred while the owner was out of town. The suspected thief was described as wearing a grey and white hooded sweatshirt and pants.
The log entry about the burglary was not available until Wednesday.
Inmate injured
SEELEY - An investigation is under way following an attack Wednesday of an inmate by two other inmates at Centinela State Prison, an official said.
Despite a preliminary scanner report that described injuries involving multiple stab wounds and head trauma, Administrative Lt. J.J. Jackson said the wounded inmate did not receive such serious injuries.
Jackson could not elaborate on what the injuries actually were as the investigation of the 1:31 p.m. incident is ongoing.
The scuffle between the inmates occurred in Facility “C” and was described as battery with a weapon, Jackson said. No lockdown of the prison occurred , Jackson said.
No suspects
YUMA - Yuma police have no suspects in custody in connection with the death of a 20-year-old Winterhaven man found early Monday in a home on North Ninth Avenue, a sergeant said Wednesday.
Few details were made available about how Angel E. Montaldo died, but police Sgt. Clint Norris said Montaldo’s death was suspicious in nature.
Norris said he could not go into specifics but said Montaldo was found at 7:17 a.m. Anyone with information about this case can call Yuma police Detective James Frazier at 928-373-4700.
