A woman charged with feloniously stalking El Centro City Councilman Jason Jackson was ordered Friday to appear for a pre-trial hearing Tuesday.

Defense attorney Tom Olafson appeared on behalf of attorney Lance Korten, who represents defendant Irenda Rios, and told Imperial County Superior Court Judge Raymundo Cota that Korten wouldn’t be available until that day.

The courts will be closed Monday in observance of Presidents Day.

A pre-trial hearing pertaining to a misdemeanor vandalism case involving Rios would also be heard Tuesday, Cota ruled. Korten is in trial on another matter, Olafson said.

Rios’ preliminary hearing would remain set for Feb. 24, Cota said. The hearing would determine whether there is enough evidence to have Rios stand trial on charges that she stalked Jackson.

In the misdemeanor case, Rios is being charged with vandalizing Jackson’s vehicle.
