Miscommunication
IMPERIAL COUNTY - Imperial County sheriff’s deputies received a call Saturday regarding a welfare check on a woman because her Facebook post appeared suicidal.
The call was reported at 3 p.m. Saturday by the woman’s sister, who had not been able to make contact with her, according to Imperial County sheriff’s activity logs.
After deputies made contact with the woman, she informed officers that her sister had misread her Facebook status update, according to logs.
Satellite reception
Imperial County sheriff’s deputies were flagged down by a woman Friday who informed them that the U.S. Army was talking to her via satellite.
The woman complained that the communications had been going on for four years, according to sheriff’s logs.
The woman had been taking her medication and was coherent and conscious during officers’ questioning, according to logs.
The woman did not meet the Imperial County Sheriff Department’s criteria for a mental health referral, so she was sent on her way.
