CALEXICO - Calexico police arrested three people involved in an incident Wednesday where a driver pulled a handgun on another driver, according to a Calexico police official.
The victim took down the person’s license plate and called authorities about the incident, Calexico police Detective Manuel Ceja said.
Calexico Officer Brian Porras then saw the car the victim described parked unoccupied in front of a residence on the east side of Calexico and police subsequently waited in unmarked cars for the driver to come out. When the driver came out of the residence, he was arrested at gunpoint.
During surveillance, officers saw the owner of the home take an item from the passenger side of the car and run to the side of the home, Ceja said. Calexico Police Department’s investigations unit obtained a search warrant for the home and found a .22-caliber handgun matching the description given by the victim inside.
The driver, Rodrigo Manuel Ruiz, passenger Victor Oliver Mendoza, and the owner of the home, Enrique Leocadio Castro, were all arrested and booked into Imperial County jail for assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats for their involvement in the incident.
