CALEXICO — The Calexico Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance on information regarding a body found Saturday morning.
An elderly man walking in the secluded 1200 block of Estrada Boulevard found the body, which has been identified as Calexico resident Julio Gutierrez, 26, Calexico Police Detective Manuel Ceja said. He was found on the east dirt embankment of that road.
The cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy Friday, but evidence at the scene indicates that Gutierrez died elsewhere and his body was moved to the location.
Gutierrez had a history of various criminal offenses.
Regardless if there was criminal activity connected to his death, “Nobody deserves to get dumped like that,” Ceja said, encouraging anyone with information to contact police. He added that knowing what happened will help the grieving family process the news.
