CALEXICO - No injuries were reported Monday during a suspicious fire that erupted at an abandoned home on Rockwood Avenue, a firefighter said Tuesday.
There were no utilities working at the home in the 900 block of Rockwood Avenue, said Calexico Firefighter Joel Rivera.

Juvenile to face charges
WINTERHAVEN - A juvenile who allegedly beat another San Pasqual Valley High School student so severely that he was sent to a local hospital, faces charges, a sheriff’s lieutenant said Tuesday.
The teen, whose age or gender Imperial County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Sheppeard declined to disclose, was arrested on suspicion of felony charges of battery with serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon for the March 30 fight that broke out in a basketball court of the school.
It is not certain whether the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office will be filing felony charges against the teen, but Sheppeard said the arrest occurred without incident.
The alleged victim in the case has since been released from the hospital for unspecified injuries, Sheppeard said.
