HOLTVILLE — The second annual Fall Roundup at Cornerstone Community Church here drew hundreds of people Sunday.

“A lot of people in Holtville leave for the summer so this is how we say summer’s over and come back to church,” Cornerstone Pastor Doc Seuss said.

The family event was open to the community and featured food, drinks, sack races, bounce houses, games, a mechanical bull, horseshoes, face painting and a pet pig.

Seuss said they hope the Fall Roundup will get bigger each year.

About 400 people of all ages came to the free event which directly followed the church’s 10:15 a.m. service.

“It’s really good to get everyone together like this, the community with people getting involved in the church,” Cornerstone church member Aimee Buscaglia said.

Sara Hilfiker attended the event Sunday with her husband, Sam, and their six children.

“Anything you can do for community outreach is fun. It brings people together,” she said. “It’s fun to spend time and fellowship with each other.”

Hilfiker said her family has seen the church grow a lot over the years and felt the Fall Roundup on Sunday reflected that.

“It’s awesome that we’re at the point to do outreach with the community and share our church with people,” she said. “We invite anyone who’d like to come to our services or the festivities.”
