It’s the question some on campus are asking themselves, and a myth the college hopes to dispute at an informational forum scheduled for Thursday.
The college administration and student council are inviting students to an informational session to go over the rumors, budget issues and more.
This is the first student informational forum scheduled for this school year, said college spokesman Bill Gay. The one-hour session is basically to dispel the rumors and address potential service cuts on campus as the school looks into how it will deal with its next budget cycle.
“As the budget keeps coming down, and as the budget season continues, we’re going to be talking about cutting services,” Gay said.
There may be ancillary services cut, or even courses, he said. There may be fewer people in offices around campus. However, it is not yet known how the cuts will manifest as the process is ongoing.
Program offerings, technology changes and a construction update will also be discussed, Gay added. It is set to be “a well rounded forum basically to answer students’ questions.”
At informational sessions in the past, there have been a pretty good turnout, but there’s no way to know how many people are going to show up, Gay said.
