State officials and representatives of an anti-drunken driving group honored this week members of law enforcement from the Imperial Valley.
Officers from El Centro, Brawley, Calexico and the California Highway Patrol, as well as deputies from the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department were recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in combating impaired driving during a ceremony Wednesday at the El Centro Police Activities League building.
Representatives from the California Office of Traffic Safety were on hand during the event that praised officers who made 25 or more driving under the influence arrests last year.
The two top officers with the most DUI arrests from each department also received an award through the MADD California 23152 Pin Program. The number is the Penal Code for drunken driving.
Recipients of the Office of Traffic Safety anti-impaired driving campaign were also honored.
