The Imperial County Living Green Initiative will host an Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Bucklin Park.

The day will feature water-efficient landscaping, backyard composting workshops and informational booths on other environmentally friendly activities such as solar-oven cooking, recycling best practices and smart energy use. Activities for children include an environmental scavenger hunt, green pledges and trash-to-treasure crafts.

There will also be live entertainment, food vendors, giveaways and raffles throughout the day.

The Living Green Initiative partners include Imperial County Workforce Development Board, Imperial County Office of Education, Imperial Irrigation District and Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program.

The group’s vision is to educate and empower Imperial County residents to create a culture of conservation and sustainable practices.
