More than 200 volunteers fanned out across 13 intersections in the Valley as part of the second annual Red Shoe Day.

The fundraising effort raised more than $30,000 last year and looked to be on its way to surpassing that sum this time around, organizers said. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego, which provides families of children facing hospitalization for life-threatening illnesses a place to stay.

About 25 percent of the families visiting San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House are from the Valley, organizers said.
