Over 30 illegal immigrants convicted of sex offenses have been arrested by the El Centro sector Border Patrol after attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border during fiscal year 2011, according to a press statement.

All the offenders are males and have criminal histories for felony convictions that include rape and sodomy to children, the release reads.

The illegal immigrants were often found traveling with women and children, according to the release. The men are processed for warrants and presented for prosecution on federal immigration charges.

Over 19 sex offenders have been convicted and many others are awaiting prosecution proceedings, the statement reads.  

Elderly nuisance

EL CENTRO - An elderly female in an electric wheelchair was yelling profanity outside the door of a residence located in the 600 block of Park Avenue on Thursday.

For the past two days the female was seen going to the front door of the residence to scream at the family, according to El Centro Police call logs. The last time this occurred the daughter of the reporting party was home alone, the logs read.  

The elderly suspect was last seen going eastbound on Adams Avenue wearing an orange safety vest, according to the logs.    



Television stolen during break-in

A break-in was reported in the 300 block of Third Street on Thursday.

A window was smashed and a 31-inch television along with a DVD player were stolen around 4 p.m., according to El Centro Police call logs.

The stolen items were valued $650 and there is no information on the suspect or suspects, the logs read.



Shots heard

Three shots were heard in the vicinity of Fifth Street and Brighton Avenue on Thursday around 8:45 p.m., according to El Centro Police call logs.

Two people reported the incident, the call logs read, but no further information was provided.



Aerosol intoxication

A 30 year-old male inhaled aerosol, passed out and hit his head near the 200 block of Tangerine Drive, according to El Centro Police call logs.

The person was bleeding, the logs read.

No further information is provided in the logs.
