IMPERIAL - No injuries were reported during a house fire in the 500 block of Brewer Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The Imperial County Fire Department was notified about 12:30 p.m.and responded with two engines, said Assistant Fire Chief Rob Scott.
The origin of the fire appears to have been in a back room, he said, adding firefighters were able to keep the fire confined to that location. However, the rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
Firefighters cleared the scene around 3 p.m., Scott said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
PALO VERDE - A 1996 white and blue Polaris motorcycle was stolen Wednesday afternoon from a residence on Clark Way Road.
The motorcycle was inside a trailer within the property, according to Imperial County sheriff’s call logs.
A neighbor witnessed the incident as it was taking place around 2 p.m. and identified the suspect.
No further information was provided.
EL CENTRO - At least two males carrying flashlights and cables were reportedly looking into vehicles near an alleyway and courtyard in the 600 block of Olive Avenue early Wednesday.
The incident was reported at 12:27 a.m., according to El Centro police call logs
A man in his early 20s was contacted and searched in connection with the incident, the logs read, but nothing was found on him. The man was told to stay out of the area, according to the logs.
Box of meat stolen
A box of meat and a can of malt liquor were stolen from the Wal-Mart Supercenter by a man in his 30s Tuesday night.
Before leaving on a bicycle, the subject took the can of beer and pack of meat and put them in his waistband, according to El Centro police call logs.
The subject was wearing a black jacket and blue shorts and was last seen riding toward the east.
A mailman was confronted by a resident near Sixth Street and Heil Street on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident came days after the mailman sprayed the resident’s dog with pepper spray, according to El Centro police call logs.
The mailman continued his rounds after the verbal confrontation, according to the logs, while the resident was “advised not to intimidate the mailman.”
