“Cock-a-doodle-doo!” Several complaints about rooster sounds too early in the morning for some residents have been reported to El Centro’s animal control office. As a result, a city ordinance has been amended to prohibit roosters and mules from being raised in residential areas.

However, children in 4-H, FFA and other similar youth organizations will be allowed to have roosters and other prohibited animals if they are participating in an animal-raising project.
