Authorities are asking the public's help in locating the family of a 5-year-old boy found almost a year ago wandering the streets of Mexicali.
The boy, Michael Anthony Perez Hernandez, stands three feet and six inches tall and weighs 40 pounds. A woman in May 2011 dropped Michael off to social service officials in Mexicali after finding him in the downtown area of Mexicali for an specified period of time, a statement from the state Attorney General Kamala Harris reported.
Michael, who has not been listed in the California Missing and Unidentified Persons System, is believed to be from the Imperial Valley because he described local landmarks. Michael identified his parents as Jorge Perez and Evelyn Hernandez, and grandparents as Angela and Juan, the statement read. Michael also said he has four siblings and speaks only Spanish.
Anyone who has information regarding Michael Anthony Perez Hernandez, or his family members, can call Special Agent Guillermo Auyon and San Diego County Child Welfare Specialist Francisco Llerandi at (858) 514-6911.
