A man apparently hit an undercover U.S. Border Patrol agent, then crashed his car into nearby residential home's fence and fled on foot before being caught in Calexico around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The wreck occurred near the corner of Emerson Avenue and Lincoln Street.
U.S. Border Patrol, Calexico Police and Calexico Fire officials arrived on scene and with the help of a helicopter spotlight, the suspect was soon detained nearby on Grant Street.
The agent was disoriented but uninjured while the driver who fled had minor cuts on his arms and some pain on his side. No more information was available on scene.
