A missing man from Tucson, Ariz. was found dead Sunday after apparently walking away from his car, which had been found a week earlier.

De Anza Search and Rescue units found the body of Arthur Louis Hartung, 77, Sunday morning in the bombing range north of Niland, said Sgt. Thomas Garcia, supervising deputy coroner for the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle was found last weekend by Border Patrol in the bombing range area and stored by the California Highway Patrol. After it was stored, it was found that Hartung had been reported missing.

De Anza units did searches through the week and found Hartung about 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, Garcia said. It looks like Hartung walked away from his vehicle, but an autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death.
