HEBER -- Numerous parents gathered in front of Dogwood Elementary School this morning to protest the district office's handling of an investigation of a school employee accused of inappropriate behavior with a student.

Parents could be seen carrying signs, gathering petition signatures and handing out flyers alerting parents of the ongoing matter. District officials have in the past declined to comment on the alleged incident, citing the rules governing personnel matters.

Heber School District Superintendent Jaime Silva had previously stated that the employee in question had been placed on a modified schedule after the allegations came to light late last month. The majority of the dozen or so parents gathered this morning were specifically calling for the removal of the employee from school grounds during the duration of the investigation.

Within an hour, some 40 parents had signed the petition calling for the employee's removal.
