The public is invited to attend Carrot Field Day at the University of California Desert Research & Extension Center in El Centro on Tuesday.
The event will feature more than 100 different carrot varieties from all over the world that have been grown from seed at the center, said center superintendent Fernando Miramontes Jr. Participants will be asked to score the appearance, taste, and size various carrots on their on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score, Miramontes said.
Carrot Field Day is scheduled to run from 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the center, 1004 E, Holton Rd., in El Centro.
