The 17th Annual Imperial Valley Jr. Trout Fishing Derby is set to start Saturday at 7 a.m. at Sunbeam Lake in Seeley.
Registration for the event starts at 6 a.m. and the first 500 kids that register will receive a free T-shirt. The free event is for children 15 and under.
There will be a five fish limit for participants, and only the longest fish will be measured for prizes. participants must be registered and present in order to win.
The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis of El Centro, the County of Imperial and the state Department of Fish and Game. Sunbeam Lake is at 1750 Drew Rd., in Seeley.
