IMPERIAL --- Two people were injured early today when a truck drifted off of southbound Highway 86 near 12th Street, crashed through a perimeter fence and plowed into two unoccupied parked cars before smashing through an apartment, a California Highway Patrol official said.
The occupant of the home was pinned underneath the truck as he was on a sofa and taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital for unspecified injuries. The driver of the truck was also injured during the crash that was reported at 5:43 a.m., said Highway Patrol Officer Pablo Torrez.
Members of the Imperial Police Department and Highway Patrol officers were at the crash scene where the truck was lodged inside the occupant's home. None of the names of the injured were immediately available. It was also not known why the truck driver drifted off Highway 86.
