The unemployment rate for Imperial County dropped to 29.3 percent in October, according to data released by the state's Employment Development Department today.

Yet the county is still the highest in the state, above Yuba and Sutter counties that had 17.8 percent unemployment, according to the data.

The unemployment rate for Imperial County fell almost 3 percent from September, according to the data. October 2010 was also lower than the rate last year at 30.5 percent.

Statewide the unemployment rate was 12.4 percent, unchanged from the month before, according to the data. The national unemployment rate also stayed the same at 9.6 percent.
