I saw some billboards and a full-color ad in your newspaper introducing a new group which calls itself IV First. Who formed this group that is purporting to speak for me and all Imperial Valley residents?
In researching this group and its origin, I discovered that IV First’s creators are the same group that created the Imperial Group and COLAB. A number of Imperial Valley residents turned against the Imperial Group in the past for trying to profit from selling water allocated for farming use to out-of-county water districts. I believe the Imperial Group has returned to its prior business but now under a new name, IV First.
The purpose of IV First is the same, to employ politics to remove Stella Mendoza and J.P. Menvielle in order to gain majority control of the Imperial Irrigation District board. This time around, the group not only has a new name but has expanded financial resources for propaganda via clever advertisement Allowing these groups to control our Imperial Valley’s water issues is like allowing the fox into the henhouse. Their purpose is to turn our Imperial Valley into another Owens Valley (a once prosperous agricultural community which turned into an arid desert and lost its population after selling its water rights to the Los Angeles Water District). We must safeguard the future of Imperial Valley for our children.
Let’s retain Stella Mendoza and J.P. Menvielle on the IID Board of Directors for they stand strong and true to our Imperial Valley.
