January is unchain a dog month. Many dogs are subjected to a miserable life of living at the end of a chain, often without any shelter from the elements, including wind, rain and scorching heat.
Today, if you have a dog that’s chained or know of one that is, contact the guardian (animal rights’ activists use the word guardian as opposed to owner, which leads to the thought of controlling a living being, much like an object, which a dog is not) and ask him or her to unchain the dog so that it may lead a normal, happy life.
If the guardian is unwilling or unable to unchain the dog, contact the local animal control officer. In El Centro the phone number is 760-339-6921, and ask them for their assistance. Thank you.
