will be the only way the college can make its full-time equivalent student numbers this year to get that payment, according to Melody Chronister,

instructional support specialist with IVC Academic Services.

On Thursday night, as the IVC board sought to cut an additional cut $1 million off the budget, more money was taken from the summer school budget.

However, Chronister said the college saw the move coming so it had planned in such a manner that even if the budget was cut it went from $400,000 to about

$200,000 summer session would still survive with the same number of classes.

She said hopefully by next Friday, the IVC Web site will post the 50 to 60 most vital classes needed for transfer or graduation.

Chronister added, the fee hike approved as part of the state budget trigger cuts earlier this year will go into effect for the summer session, from the

current price per unit of $36 to $46.

She said that is the only change.
