One person died and three others were injured after a vehicle overturned Monday on Interstate 8 southwest of Seeley.
Enrique M. Rodriguez, 68, of National City was driving a 1984 Winnebago on eastbound Interstate 8 east of Westside Road about 6 p.m. Monday with three passengers in the vehicle, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol. For unknown reasons, Rodriguez lost control of the Winnebago, which overturned on the dirt center divider.
The two rear passengers in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle, according to the press release. One of the ejected passengers, a 62-year-old man from National City, died. The other passenger, 63-year-old Maria C. Rodriguez of National City, had major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
The driver also sustained major injuries and was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center. The last passenger, Jose De Jesus Mendez, 55, of National City, had moderate injuries and was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
The accident remains under investigation.
