RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) Nine hours after the VCU Rams beat number one seed Kansas, they returned to their home court in Richmond. An estimated 5,000 fans gathered at the Siegel Center to celebrate the trip to the Final Four. Doors opened around 11:50 p.m. for anyone who wanted to cheer on the team.

The Rams landed at the airport around 12:40 a.m., and arrived at the stadium around 1:30 a.m. VCU President Michael Rao introduced the team, saying they've inspired an entire city and community.

Coach Shaka Smart thanked the fans that came to San Antonio saying, "Kansas had more (fans), but ours were louder and better. We shut the Kansas fans up real quickly, didn't we?" Smart ended saying, "We ain't done yet!"

Richmond police blocked streets to limit traffic along Broad Street between Belvidere and Lombardy, as well as Main and Harrison streets as the team, and fans made their way to the Siegel Center.

The event ended around 1:50 a.m., and Richmond Police reported no arrests.

VCU is holding classes Monday.

Going into the tournament, the Rams were an 11 seed in the Southwest Region. The team advanced to the Men's Final Four on Sunday afternoon by stunning top-seeded Kansas 71-61.
