FEB. 18 Westmorland PAL boxing event 1 p.m., Westmorland Youth Center
The Westmorland Police Activities League be hold a charity boxing event “Battle in a Small City” at 1 p.m. Saturday in Westmorland. There will be 12 bouts featuring Imperial Valley and San Diego county boxers ages 7-17. The main event will be between Carlos Cisnero and Isaac Alvarez. General admission is $3, ringside is $5 and tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds will benefit Westmorland PAL Boxing. Imperial Valley Classic 5K run 11 a.m., Cattle Call Park
The inaugural Imperial Valley Classic 5K run will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cattle Call Park in Brawley. There will be four divisions, male open, female open, male under-18 and female under-18. Winners of each open will receive $100 and there will be medals for the top three placers of each category. Advance registration is $10, and $15 on the day of the event.
MARCH 3 Calexico youth sports summit 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Calexico High School
The Calexico Recreation Commission will have a Youth Sports Summit for coaches and parents of young athletes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mar. 3 in Calexico. The cost is free and registration starts Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Calexico Community Center.
