AOTW: Vicente Saldana

The Calexico High boys’ soccer team got a big win Friday against Central Union High.

The Bulldogs beat the Spartans, 3-0, to win the annual Copa del Valle and the Imperial Valley League title thanks to the help of senior Vicente Saldana.

His quiet leadership and ability to play any position is key to the Bulldogs.

What do you enjoy most about your sport?


I enjoy everything about soccer, from the running to the kicking and especially the feeling of being victorious.

What is one of your more memorable moments in your sport?

One of my most memorable moments is winning the Copa Del Valle and being back-to-back IVL champs. It’s my senior year and the Copa had to come back home.

Tell us about someone who inspires you and why?

People who inspire me are my parents. My parents work hard every day and have taught me to never give up and always do my best in all I do.

What is your goal in your sport this season?

My goals this season are to finish undefeated in league and lead my team to a CIF championship.
