The Imperial Valley Baseball Network along with the Imperial Valley College baseball program will team up to provide a high-skills level camp Saturday at IVC.

“What makes this camp special and unique from others, is that our coaches are all college experienced with many having professional playing experience as well,” IVBN president Ruben Niebla said, “and most of them are from the Valley.”

The camp, open to youths ages 8 to 18, will have all local high school coaches and coaches from the IVC baseball program instructing.

The camp will also have professionals like former San Diego Padres pitcher Kevin Walker, now a pitching coach in the Boston Red Sox organization.

It will also include local current and former professionals Alex Caldera, Carlo Cota, Enrique Lechuga and Brian Martin.

“The message we want to send to our community youth is that there are people around them that have reached a level beyond high school and it is a reality if they work hard enough,” Niebla said.

The camp is $25 for pre-registration and $30 the day of the camp. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the IVC baseball field.

Deadline to pre-register is Thursday. All proceeds from the camp will be used for the network’s scholarships. T-shirts will be on sale but are not part of the camp fee. A snack will be provided to campers.
