The Southwest High softball team won and lost against Mission Hills High on Saturday in El Centro.

In the first game, Southwest beat Mission Hills, 11-3, with Maci Lerno getting the win with three strikeouts.

At the plate, Lerno was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Kaitlin Williams was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Celeste Bernal was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Faith Legakes.

In the second game, the Eagles lost to the Grizzlies, 15-5, with Natalia Leranaga taking the loss.

Taylor Ross was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Southwest (13-7, 4-1 IVL) will play at Holtville at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.



BASEBALL: IVC loses to San Diego City

The Imperial Valley College baseball team lost to San Diego City College, 14-3, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game at IVC on Saturday.

For the Arabs, Chacho Madrigal had two hits with a double, Luis Briseno had two hits, Jerry Cortez had two hits, Rudy Arellano had two hits and Erick Ochoa had a home run and two RBIs.

IVC (12-17, 7-13 PCAC) will play at Palomar College at noon Tuesday.



TRACK & FIELD: Central has several placers

VALLEY CENTER — The Central Union High track and field team competed in the Jaguar Invitational here at Valley Center High.

The Spartans had a total of 10 medals earned in the meet.

Eagles bring back medals

VALLEY CENTER — The Southwest High track and field team competed in the Jaguar Invitational here at Valley Center High.

The Eagles had 13 placers and two champions in Greg Ponce who won the 1600m race with a time of 4:31.36 and Jazmin Aguilar who won the 100m race (13.80).
