SAN DIEGO — The Holtville High baseball team beat Christian High, 6-3, in the Christian tournament here Thursday.

Alex Ayon got the win picking up six strikeouts.

At the plate, Zach Soto was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Ayon was 2-for-4, Santiago Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Josh Osuna was 3-for-3 and David Lucero was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Holtville (3-2) will play at Calexico at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

MEN’S BASEBALL

IVC sweeps doubleheader

The Imperial Valley College baseball team swept Palomar College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference at IVC on Thursday.

IVC won the first game, 4-1, with Chacho Madrigal earning the win with four strikeouts and no runs allowed.

Jerry Cortez picked up the save.

At the plate, Rudy Arellano had two RBIs, Trevor Robinson had two runs and Chris Gonzalez had two hits.

In the second game, the Arabs won 5-4 by scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Luis Briseno had the game-winning infield single.

David Martinez earned the win in relief.

At the plate, Madrigal was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, Jacinto Garcia had two hits and two RBIs, Alan Lizarraga was 2-for-4 and Eric Garcia was 1-for-1.

IVC (8-9 3-5 PCAC) will host Grossmont at 2 p.m. Tuesday.



SOFTBALL

Brawley loses to Otay Ranch

CHULA VISTA — The Brawley Union High softball team lost to Otay Ranch, 7-1, in the Hilltop tournament here Thursday.

Justine Gonzalez took the loss.
