The Imperial Valley College baseball team lost to San Diego Mesa, 10-8, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game Tuesday at IVC.

For the Arabs, Jeremy Dial had two hits, Austin Gastelo had two hits and two runs, Jacinto Garcia had two hits and two runs, Luis Briseno had two hits, three RBIs and a double and Eric Garcia had a triple.

IVC (10-14, 5-10 PCAC) will play at San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Imperial picks up wins at tourney

SAN DIEGO — The Imperial High baseball team beat El Cajon Valley High, 14-0, in the Lions tournament here Monday.

Victor Cruz got the win picking up six strikeouts.

At the plate, David Felix was 4-for-5 with three runs and a triple, Jose Cosio was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, Dominic Paramo was 2-for-4 with two runs, Mark Benedict was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run and Isaac Gastellum had two RBIs.

On Tuesday, the Tigers beat Southwest of San Diego, 8-5. At the plate, David Sanchez was 3-for-5 with an RBI and Hector Melos was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Imperial will play Brentwood at 4:30 p.m. today.



Brawley falls in extra innings

SAN DIEGO — The Brawley Union High baseball team lost to Chula Vista High, 2-1, in eight innings at the Lions tournament here Tuesday.

Izar Mendez received a no decision and Donovan Buck took the loss. At the plate, Robby Cortez had a hit, Jayson Sanchez had a hit and a run and Christian Delgado had a hit and an RBI.

Brawley (8-5, 2-1 IVL) will play La Jolla at 3 p.m. today.



SOFTBALL

Southwest wins tournament

LAS VEGAS — The Southwest High won three games en route to winning the Black Division of the Charger Invitational here Tuesday.

In the first game, Southwest beat Birmingham, 4-3, with Maci Lerno picking up the win. At the plate, Lerno was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBIs.

In the second game, the Eagles beat Silverado, 12-2, with Natalia Larranaga getting the win. At the plate, Larranaga was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Taylor Ross was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Robinson was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Valeria Torres was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Keana Tamayo was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Faith Legakes was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
