Local Briefs: Southwest beats Palo Verde Valley

The Southwest High boys’ soccer team beat Palo Verde Valley High, 4-0, in an Imperial Valley League game Tuesday in El Centro.

For the Eagles, Sergio Escobedo had two goals and Caleb Ashurst and Andres Estrada both had one goal.

Southwest (11-5-2, 4-1-2 IVL) will play at Calexico at 5 p.m. Friday.



Central beats Holtville, 3-2


HOLTVILLE — The Central Union High boys’ soccer team beat Holtville High, 3-2, in an Imperial Valley League game here Tuesday.

For the Spartans, Edwin Ruiz had two goals and Charlie Ramirez had one.

Central (4-2-1 IVL) will host Brawley Union at 6 p.m. Friday.



GIRLS’ SOCCER

Eagles beat Yellowjackets

The Southwest High girls’ soccer team beat Palo Verde Valley High, 1-0, in an Imperial Valley League game Tuesday in El Centro.

For the Eagles, Dayana Ortiz scored the lone goal.

Southwest (4-3) will host Calexico at 5 p.m. Friday.



Spartans beat Vikings, 6-0

The Central Union High girls’ soccer team beat Holtville High, 6-0, in an Imperial Valley League game Tuesday in El Centro.

For the Spartans, Dana McClure had three goals and Lupita Lopez, Paulina Pantoja and Bailey Vincent scored a goal apiece.

Central (7-0 IVL) will play at Brawley Union at 5 p.m. Friday.
