Off-road racers from throughout Imperial and San Diego counties will gather in Plaster City on Sunday morning for the third annual Speed Limit 100.
The American Motorcyclist Association District 38 race is organized by the Interstate 8 Dezert Racers club and will begin at 9 a.m. at Plaster City East.
An off-road race for youths will begin 30 minutes after the end of the main show.
“We’re anticipating 100 or better riders,” Randy Engen of the Interstate 8 Dezert Racers club said. “There’s been a real concerted focus the last two to three months to recruit new riders and it seems to be paying off.
“We’re anticipating several new riders, and we’re excited about that.”
The Speed Limit 100 will consist of four laps around a 24-mile loop here, a solid finish to the winter/spring race schedule.
“It’s our last desert race between now and when the desert races resume in September at the Roadrunner race,” Engen said.
There will be signups on the day of the event from 7-to-8:30 a.m.
Plaster City East can be reached by traveling on Interstate 8 and exiting north on Dunaway Road, then heading west on Evan Hewes Highway.
