The Imperial Valley College softball team couldn’t hold on to a second-run lead in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday, losing both games to Mount San Jacinto College at IVC.

The Arabs lost the first game, 14-2, and lost the second game, 15-9.

IVC was outgunned the first game but seemed to turn the tables in the second game.

After a 7-run first inning, the Arabs needed to hold off the Mount San Jacinto Eagles for seven innings for the win but the Eagles slowly chipped away at the score to tie it, 9-9 after six innings.

The Eagles then scored six in the seventh for the eventual win.

“We just have to shut down the physical errors but we have a lot of mental errors,” IVC head coach Jill Lerno said. “The mental errors come from lack of experience. I really think we lost the second game because of mental errors.”

For the Arabs in the first game, Alex Coronado-Tarin went 1-for-3, Stevee Crise went 1-for-3 with a double, Bianca Nuñez went 2-for-3 with a run, Samantha Moore went 1-for-3, Austin Aguirre went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Pebbles Gonzalez went 1-for-2 and Erika Flores went 1-for-2.

IVC (3-5) will host College of the Desert in a doubleheader starting at noon Wednesday.
