YUMA — The Imperial High baseball team beat Yuma Catholic High, 5-1, in the Shamrock Classic tournament here Thursday.
Bryan Garrett got the win for the Tigers on the mound.
At the plate, David Felix went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Andrew Sotelo went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Mathew Ortega was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Imperial will continue tournament play against Scottsdale Christian at 11 a.m. and Central Union at 3 p.m. today.
Eagles earn two wins in tourney
YUMA — The Southwest High baseball team earned two wins in the Cibola tournament here Thursday.
The Eagles beat Yuma High, 9-8, in the first game.
Gilbert Cano got the win in relief and was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Also for the Eagles, David Romero was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Junior Vargas was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Humberto Montiel was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI and Daniel Navarro was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Southwest bet Gila Ridge, 2-1, in the second game.
Montiel pitched a three-hit complete game for the win.
At the plate, Romero was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Carlos Benitez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base and Tito Montano was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Holtville falls to Lincoln
SAN DIEGO — The Holtville High baseball team lost to Lincoln High, 2-1, in the Christian Patriots tournament here Thursday.
Alex Ayon took the loss for the Vikings while tallying 10 strikeouts.
At the plate, Zack Soto was 1-for-3, Santiago Gonzalez was 1-for-3, Raul Cortez was 1-for-3 and Alex Dolente was 2-for-3.
Holtville (1-1) will continue tournament play against El Cajon Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday.
