Plenty teams make it to the first round of CIF playoffs

SAN DIEGO — A CIF-San Diego Section seeding meeting here Saturday let local teams in boys and girls basketball and soccer know their playoff fate.


GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Division I

The Imperial Valley League co-champion Calexico High was given the 15th seed and will face off against No. 2 Granite Hills High at 7 p.m. Wednesday in El Cajon.

Division II

IVL co-champ Southwest High was given the 12th seed and will host No. 5 Serra High at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Division III

Brawley Union High was given the 12th seed and will play at No. 5 Cathedral Catholic at 7 p.m. Wednesday in San Diego.

Desert League champion Imperial High was given the 11th seed and will host No. 6 Olympian at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Division IV

Calipatria High was given the No. 9 seed and will play at No. 8 Christian High at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Division V

Citrus East League champion Vincent Memorial High was given the No. 3 seed and will host No. 14 San Pasqual Academy at 7 p.m. Wednesday.


BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Division II

Imperial Valley League co-champion Southwest was given the 15th seed and will play at No. 2 Lincoln High in San Diego at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Division III

Brawley Union High was given the 16th seed and will play at No. 1 Cathedral Catholic at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Desert League champion Imperial High was given the 10th seed and will host No. 7 El Capitan at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Division IV

Calipatria High was given the 12th seed and will play at No. 5 Horizon High at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Division V

Citrus East League champion Vincent Memorial High was given the No. 3 seed and will host No. 14 Escondido Adventist at 7 p.m. Tuesday.


GIRLS’ SOCCER
Division III

Imperial Valley League champion Central Union High was the only girls’ squad from the Imperial Valley to advance into the playoffs.

Central was given the No. 11 seed and will host No. 6 La Jolla at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The game time might change to 6 p.m.


BOYS’ SOCCER
Division I

Imperial Valley League champion Calexico High was given the No. 10 seed and will host No. 7 Rancho Buena Vista at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Division II

Southwest High was given the No. 9 seed and will play at No. 8 Valhalla High at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Division III

Central Union High was given the No. 12 seed and will play at No. 5 Canyon Crest at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Division IV

Holtville High was given the No. 9 seed and will play at No. 8 High Tech High at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Division V

Citrus East League champion Vincent Memorial High was given the No. 4 seed and will receive a bye in the first round Tuesday. The Scots will host in the second round Friday at a time to be determined.

The Scots’ opponent will be the winner of the No. 5 Calvin Christian-No. 12 Foothills Christian game.

Calipatria High was given the No. 7 seed and will host No. 10 Horizon at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
